With much deserving fanfare, let me introduce you to “French Frisson”. This bathroom took a village of Canadian trades and creatives to come to life. As it often happens, this emerging beauty then trickled into a master closet rebuild and bedroom refresh. This was no ordinary client for me. Marc has been my interior photographer for over fifteen years, and his exquisite wife Marthe has become a maternal presence in my life. The opportunity to nurture their private space as beautifully as they nourish my soul came in the form of a timid ask that my ears heard with a rushing roar. I couldn’t WAIT to shower them with all the wonders a carefully curated design can bring about. With the help of Laurent from Cutting Edge Construction, we went to work on bringing “French Frisson” to life. The colour blue is Marthe’s favourite, and as soon as she settled on it, we were off to the races. This space is evocative of their refined and well-travelled tastes. It is both whimsical and fresh, exotic and dreamy. Their delight at walking through their fluted glass doors from their bedroom is relayed daily and makes my heart sing. I could not be prouder to speak on this project on International Women’s Day, as it came to life because my voice was immediately heard, my vision was clearly integrated, and my work was utterly understood by the men around me. Mutual recognition and respect between the sexes is a balance that can be achieved. Seek it, find it, cherish it and pass it forward to the next generation.
