To be able to layer wood and leather and make it meld into one prolonged, richly layered and deeply saturated tableau takes an eye like no other. I have mixed metals forever, but different woods in the last decade only. Often on our devious design path, we subject our homes to our experimental whims in order to stand and proclaim we can do exactly that to yours. Rarely does one bump into Exhibit « A » of a design proof as utterly captivating in its quiet effortlessness as this filled-to-the-brim room. Contrarily and intrinsically, I know this took a keen behind-the-scenes refinement and fatigue-less sourcing as Eneby’s Home young founders provided in abundance to their new Nashville digs. An eye can be cultivated and educated yes. Nonetheless, I believe that taste is nature over nurture. The charismatic vintage dealers with impeccable pedigrees in the Atlanta Antique world have created a dream space reminiscent of a modern Karnak Temple filled with turn-of-the-century Spanish and French case goods and pottery, interspersed with mid-modern shearling and linen upholstered recognizable giants of Italian and Scandinavian seating. Look for yourself, the palette ranges from weathered cream to battered ebony, passing through rich oxblood and drunken cognac on the way to a feast for the eye. The mix is where it’s at. A mix says « original and unique » versus « conforming and bland ». It speaks to a curious soul and an interesting mind. I ask aloud: Who wouldn’t want to eat at that table?
